MEET LAURA:
How did Josefina Events originate?
I went to school for fashion design and spent many years working in Los Angeles as a stylist and doing set design for commercials, tv shows, and music videos. Although I loved the craft, I always loved working with people. I took some time off to travel the world volunteering internationally, spending months at a time in places such as Costa Rica, Nepal, and India.
Once I returned to the US, I was able to combine my craft with my passion to help others and worked for various nonprofits raising funds by designing and producing fundraising seminars, galas, and golf tournaments. Before long, people were asking me to help them with their weddings and other social events.
As fate would have it, Josefina Events was created and it's been a fabulous ride since!
What do you love the most about event planning?
Telling a story. I believe events are opportunities for people to showcase their personalities, especially weddings. It's so much fun to create experiences through music, food, ambiance, and decor.
What are your passions?
My heart beats for my husband and son, food (probably my favorite subject in the world), crystals (total crystal junkie),hats - actually sort of an obsession, I LOVE lion's (my son is a Leo so now you see the connection) and dreaming big.

Favorite Food:
Taiwanese Dumplings - specifically Xiao Long Bao (aka soup dumplings) & Pabellon Criolo, a traditional Venezuelan meal of shredded beef, plantains, white rice, and black beans. My culture never tasted so good!

I was born in Vietnam and came to San Diego at the age of 4. Since then, my life has been staged in San Diego.
If you could travel to one destination where would it be and why:
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would spend just one day in the Arctic Circle. I’ve always wanted to see penguins in their natural habitats and spend a night in an igloo.

What do you enjoy most about planning and designing events:
The look on any member of the event to see their vision come to life and see how amazing the event turned out to be.

If you could travel to one destination where would it be and why?
I made a pact with myself since the age of 28 to conquer the countries that I've always wanted to travel to since I was a little girl and have been traveling every year since then. I think next on my bucket-list would be South Africa. I have always wanted to go on a safari and visit vibrant cities, geological wonders and precious wildlife.
What do you enjoy most about planning and designing events?
I LOVE to see the happiness in my couples the day of their wedding. Seeing dreams become a reality with the finished product in a wedding is like winning a trophy. All the hard work paid off, and I am honored to have been a part of it. The creative side as well as the beauty with how everything comes together is just amazing!
